Market Basket Reviews

Me being a teen, I was looking for a job and so I applied to Market Basket. I got accepted and started working there. I am an introvert so Market Basket was a way to teach me how to talk to and handle customers. I worked as a cashier and it was a lot to take in. As a cashier, I handled the money people gave me and had to be cautious with giving customers back the right amount. I had to deal with customers complaining about the price or claiming I gave back the wrong amount. You only get 1 break for 30 minutes for working 7 or more hours. I believe workers, especially cashiers, are not being paid what they should for this. The work is repetitive, you stand all day, and management isn't the best. I had some strict managers who would make me nervous. The good thing for me was that my coworkers were very nice and helpful when I was struggling. As someone who struggles with anxiety and mental health, I wouldn't recommend working there. The pay is not worth sabotaging your mental state.
Market basket offered a below-average working experience, even for a retail job. The compensation barely held up to competitive standards, the training was minimal to non-existent, and it was always excessively loud, which wore me down over time. Overall, better options exist, even for a highschooler looking to make some money over the summer.
Market Basket has to be one of the worst places to work in terms of equality and working conditions. The cashiers and baggers are always split between to genders (cashiers being women and baggers being men). And with working conditions, you can't sit down to relax your body at all except when you get a 10 minute break or a 30 minute lunch break. The work take a toll on your body after a while.
