I just started the other day and I love it so far. I have 11 years of restaurant experience and I was nervous about changing my profession. Working at Lutheran Medical Center was a positive career change. It is less stressful than the busy hospitality industry but I have more responsibilities. The amount of work is acceptable relative to pay. It is a very big place to navigate but after guidance and practice it was easy. The staff there are very smart and helpful. I have made a few life long friends through this experience and I cannot wait to have more!
I really love the people I work with. Some days, they are the ones that help me keep my sanity! I work an off shift, so I do not encounter management at all. This can be a good or bad thing, depending on who you ask. 99.9 precent of the people here are great. They are kind, friendly and good at their jobs. I do not dread going to work, but the hours are very long so having good co-workers is a must!
Enjoyed my time, training opportunities are amazing. Unfortunately a lot of unnecessary stress. Some of the charge nurses on the floor can be very abrasive. A lot of back lash and retaliation for nurses: calling in/ putting in 2 week notice/ changing shifts/ changing hours or availability. Training is excellent, good place to work and get training plus experience and move on.
