I would say that I have enjoyed my time working at HomeGoods, as I am writing this, I have been working there part-time over a month. The managers are straightforward to talk to and work with the employees, not just telling us what to do but also showing us. I mostly work on unloading the trucks in the morning, and the importance of safety is evident, except on some occasions where we are rushing, a few boxes have fallen, but overall we stay very safe. Especially now, with the current epidemic, we find ourselves in, we are safe because we are provided masks and gloves and are strongly suggested to stay 6 feet apart at all times. Although I enjoy working here, I still think some things can be improved upon, especially for members of the store who have been working much longer than I have, some of them are getting paid the same rate as I am. I do hope that is rectified, but I have confidence that if someone wanted to work for HomeGoods, they would be treated well.
Working at HomeGoods was my first job and while it is definitely a challenge compared to some of my peer's jobs, it has been a great experience. I worked as a cashier mainly although I preferred working on the sales floor, it was never terribly difficult. The main downside is that it's dealing with a lot of middle-aged women and while for the most part they were pretty understanding, there's always a few that were pretty irrational. However, that's to be expected in any customer service job and overall HomeGoods was pretty good.
HomeGoods is a location with an easy job but frustrating management. Most of your day consists of scanning and bagging items, talking to customers on the floor, or carrying furniture. Flexibility doesn't occur often and managers are not transparent about what they plan to do. During the hectic holiday hours, an associate would be lucky to leave their station to do something else. The managers, for the most part, don't seem to care as much about their employees. They have much more of a focus on the numbers. Someone couldn't go out and be social either, largely because HomeGoods will schedule them 2 weeks in advance and there is little that can be done to negate that.
Decent place to work, frustrating managers.
