Gap Reviews

Gap is a very friendly environment, the company seeks to hire great people and take care of them in their headquarters. The offices are large and bright. While working hours can be long, the work is often engaging. However, since Gap is a large corporation and rather old, it sometimes has a hard time adapting to new technology or incorporating ways to improve its functions. This can be discouraging for people who want to make an impact. Overall, the company culture is good.
Working at a retail location for Gap has been a great first job experience as a teenager. Everyone at our store is very friendly with one another, even in competitions which we hold to see who can get the most loyalty sign-ups. The management is very friendly and cares about employees' well-being. Management is also great about showing appreciation for their employees, sometimes with treats in the break area or small gifts around the holiday season. Overall, there is a very positive work environment. The employee discount is the best benefit because you can use it at all the Gap Inc. stores.
There are a plethora of positives and negatives:
POSITIVES:
- non discriminatory hiring
- lets you dress/look however you want(with certain exceptions, but hair, makeup, style is yours for the choosing as long as its not wildly inappropriate)
- in my experience, friendly coworkers
- straightforward duties/expectations
- very diverse workplace
- benefits are great
NEGATIVES:
- everything is very political and full of gossip(maybe that's just because I work in a college town with many young adults and teens)
- management lies to your face and will talk behind your back
- internal operations are secretive, political and ALSO lie to you, even when it directly involves you.
- higher-ups are not very sympathetic to mistakes made
- EXTREME FAVORITISM
People quit left and right, which is understandable, but spots are pretty constantly filled.
