Freeport-McMoRan gave me an outstanding internship that challenged me and educated me. The environment and work were thoughtful and let me expand my horizons. They really do care about their employees, the environment, and their shareholders. They are a top-notch outfit.
Freeport McMoRan offers great pay and benefits. They provide ongoing training pending the department or field you work in. However, moving up the pay scale is a challenge with this company as they practice an extreme amount of favoritism. Management claims, and preaches integrity, but integrity is what they lack. The "Right" way of doing things is only right when convenient. If wrongful doing is brought to the attention to management, they manipulate any statements to make them seem squeaky clean. To survive here, true morals must be throw out the window.
Freeport-McMoRan takes safety at the mine sites very seriously. Everyday before your shift there will be a short safety meeting to instill safety into your mind for the day. You get to work with teams to achieve the goals set out by management. Hard work, but very rewarding.
