I think overall this is a great company to get nursing experience in. I've been there through several capacities. As a nursing student working on clinicals, as a nurse technician, and now as a registered nurse. This hospital is top notch for Surgeries and Cardiac and has a PICCU and Peds ER. This hospital makes great strives enhance the wellbeing of our patients and uses a whole care approach to make sure they are fully satisfied. They are forever growing, they are now building an enormous surgical tower being funded by a patient's family who I had the pleasure of taking care of. So there will several job opportunities.
Typically day shift med surg nurses have a 4-5 to 1 ratio and and nights 4-6 to 1. PCU 4-5 to 1 I believe. And ICU 2-3 to 1. Of course with the nurse shortage floors can be rough sometimes. With low census of patients, facility tends to tag nurses with 6 patients a lot and that can be quite tough.

It is a great place to work because we are caring for others, and they take care of their employees. We have town halls twice a year where we get performance reviews as a whole, and also receive updates on what's going on in the hospital. We receive discounts in the cafeteria and the gift shops. Walking through the halls, everyone speaks, whether they know you or not and is willing to lend a helping hand if need be. They live up their mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ.
I like that I am apart of a big organization but going from a privetly owned company to Florida hospital there have been some changes. I do feel like I work harder than I get paid but I also feel like that is mostly all of Americans . I do love where I work because of the people that are there working every day. The new manager we have is great, she listens to what everyone has to say and she tries her best to do everything she can for all of us , the same goes for our nursing supervisor. I feel like the hours are easy to work with and they work with you on your hours as well if you have other places to be. The only thing I would say that I don’t like is how slow it is to hire help that we need due to us being short staffed.
