Finisar Corporation Reviews
I served a role as a development engineer intern, working primarily with high power VCSELs (vertical cavity surface emitting lasers) and creating a probe station for measurement and analysis purposes. The interview process was straightforward, with a phone interview followed by an in-person interview with my two department heads; no technical interviews. My direct supervisor did not supervise me much--he was out of town for over a month over the summer I worked there, and he was rarely available in his office to answer my questions related to my project. This made my work a little more difficult and overwhelming than it otherwise would have. Apart from that, my compensation was good--$22 an hour, and I was allowed to work overtime. I was mostly working with other scientists so we had a lot in common in terms of background and interests. People were not very social though, including the other interns, who mostly kept to themselves.
