I would like to see better staffing ratios to ensure patients are kept safe. I would also like to see nightshift treatment equal to dayshift treatment. Dayshift workers get a designated break partner on my unit, and receive an hour long lunch. On night shift I am lucky if I get 15-minutes to scarf down my food and head back to the unit to care for my 4-5 very sick patients. Otherwise, I truly enjoy caring for the sick and working at my community hospital. I feel like every shift I work is a chance for me to make a difference in someone's life, and for that I will forever be grateful to Sparrow Hospital.
Has been okay with family/work balance. Needs better management. Those that work harder than others get told that everyone works at a different pace. Though Management will listen nothing gets done, which I suppose is normal. But pay is decent and luckily coworkers get along.
I've been employed at Sparrow hospital for 3.5 years now. I can save I have learned a lot and have had tremendous growth here as a working nurse. Management for myself has been very supportive to my growth as a nurse but also as a person. I have found that my managers have continued to push me and drive me to be a netter nurse for myself and for my patients. The staff is extremely friendly and while there are some issues going on at the moment in our contract negotiations between management and the nursing union, the staff that is caring for our patients, doctors, nurses, nurse aides, all truly do care for and want what is best for our patients.
The hospital also provides nurses with many opportunities for growth and personal achievement, many of which they are willing to pay for. Over all, I am very happy to have had the opportunity to work and learn from the number of talented staff that Sparrow Hospital employs.
