I love the environment and employees...pay needs increase definitely...and more training and career opportunities.. manager is unorganized and gives little training....good benefits but hard to afford with the hourly pay....no employee discount and lack of employees make it hard for us to ever take off when it is needed
Dollar General is a great company to work for as a first job. I've been able to learn and grow very quickly and keep myself working hard to better myself as both an employee and a person.
I loved this job and have worked for the company for four years. it is highly completive splitting edge and good at salary. would highly recommend this as a beginner job
It was easy work but it could get boring and monotonous and it paid less than the other retail positions in the area.
I currently work at a Dollar General, and I actually like it. My location is clean, organized, and has a positive atmosphere. Everyone of the employees are easy to communicate with.
I have worked here for about 3 months and can safely say that i will probably be staying here until i graduate from college. I really enjoy the flexability from the manager between school and work it can get difficult at times.
Working at DG was really good at first. We got good hours & were able to get things done. Now we hardly get any hours. It’s always hot, & they don’t have enough workers to get the job completed because they cut the hours so much. It’s to the point where I can tell corporate doesn’t care about us. They want us to get so much done with two people on the clock at a time. With so many customers steadily coming through the doors it definitely doesn’t happen most the time.
The Dollar General that I worked at had a lot of manager issues. After the first week of working at Dollar General, I was left by myself for hours on end. I would call the manager when I had questions or any issues that arise and I didn't know how to deal with them and the manager would not answered and if she did she would dismiss the issue. The manager would not come back sometimes until like 5 hours later. It cause a lot of unnecessary stress considering the store policy is that there has to be two employees in the store at all times.
I’ve really enjoyed working for dollar General! My hours work perfect around my school schedule. I love to greet others, the convenience of having a job at the Dollar General is one that Can’t be beat. I even have the Dollar General app which is Even better for me. I can clip coupons on the app, and shop during my breaks so there is never a hassle.. working at Dollar General is more than perfect for a college student.
I liked how close the staff were to each other. Staff always helped each other when in need. I’d like to change the ways in which we do certain things, such as the cash register and how many are opened at a time.
I love it . The store is clean and the employees are very nice and helpful. When I first started at my new job i was nervous because i had been out of work due to coronavirus plus I have bad anxiety.
What I liked most about working at Dollar General were the my return customers that I saw everyday. Most of them were good people and very nice. The pay for sales associates definitely needs to be raised. Turnover rate at the store level needs to be improved as well.
I like the hours, the tidiness of the store and the efficiency. Management is done well. Co-workers are friendly. Shifts are equally distributed along with off days. Manager treats all employees equally. There's a pretty comfortable environment in the store.
Very great place to work, easy to work with schedule, friendly coworkers, professional managers, overall a good company to work for! Dollar general works with your schedule and allows a full time college student to still manage to work hours. The pay isn't the best but it's an entry level position!
Excellent experience working there. I wish to continue working there whille I go through college. Positive environment in a small town, employees all get along!
My experience with this corporation is fare overall. I personally do not care for some of the management, some show favoritism towards those they like or part of the "in" crowd. The store is not clean, corporate did not want to shut stores down earlier than normal due to the covid-19 and rioting.
When I was first hired (part-time), I was told I would be working 15-25 hours a week. While the manager that hired me was still at our store, I was working about 20 or 21 hours a week. I was also going to college full time, so between work and school, I had no time for anything else. I spent my lunch breaks doing homework, which I then spent two hours finishing when I got home (around 11 pm). When that manager left and a new one came, my hours were cut to 10 hours a week and I was scheduled for the worst shifts.
