I've been working at DHR for 7 years now but have not been able to "professionally grow" to a higher position. I have been fortunate enough to be hired at other departments and, because of the "career ladder" program, have had pay raises over the years. However, I have applied to supervisor and management positions that have gone to people who do not work w/in the hospital, are unexperienced, and unqualified. Other than this issue, DHR is a good place to work at and a place that has allowed me to learn a lot and grow as person.
It was a learning experience, the doctors I worked for were great. They helped me understand their specialty and ways I could help them. The actual hospital management could use some help with communication and preparation for up coming offices.
I have been a nurse at DHR for 10 years. We are a huge facility serving an economically disadvantaged area with cutting edge health-care. I'm proud to be a nurse here, but compensation for employees needs to be evaluated.
