Dick's Sporting Goods Reviews
Rating 3.83 out of 5 170 reviews
Dicks is a great place to work as a teen. You learn a lot about the retail industry and what it takes to run a retail store. I also learned a lot about customer service and teamwork while working there. There were two major downsides I noticed while working at my location and it was management and scheduling. Management isn't the best as we constantly had new managers and leads every other month. Scheduling is not good. They did a terrible job scheduling people on days they put down they couldn't work and this caused a lot of confusion. They also require you to change your schedule 3 weeks in advance and in a lot of conditions, this took too long to change. Other than that, pay and experience is good!
My experience working at Dicks Sporting Goods so far has been positive. The employees that work there are friendly and talkative. They offer help and advice whenever you need it or ask for it. The environment is fast paced and enjoyable. The customers appreciate it greatly when you help them out and inform them about information they may not have known. The only thing I would like to see change is the company should develop a training plan for new associates. The computer training gives a general idea of what to expect, but I feel like most people tone it out and don’t pay attention to the videos. I think a physical training program would be more beneficial to train associates what to do and what the job entails.
Working at Dick's Sporting Goods was a great decision. I started working there almost 3 years ago, right after covid because I needed a job to pay for college. Dick's has supported my consistently changing schedule from college classes and playing soccer during the semester. I am currently a Customer Service Specialist, because I was promoted from a regular cashier. Management has always been transparent saying if I had more open, full time availability, I would be promoted to a lead of the store. The environment with the store, management, team members, and customers is always exciting. I can't wait to continue to work here for the next couple of years.
