I love working here especially as a college student! I enjoy the flexibility, my managers are awesome and fun! Which is not what you would expect working at a grocery store, my only nitpick is that a lot of the assistants are high school students and are not always as mature as they should be.
Market Basket provides an incredibly flexible schedule that can fit any high school or college schedule. However, there is an unspoken understanding of the "Market Basket culture" that would be a culture shock as well as a concern to many. This company provides a $1,000 scholarship, except to students taking classes online.
Pros: Decent company and your only reliably source of food for cheap in a 3 state radius. Depending on the department you get in you will find that most of them are very accommodating when it comes to schedule times for collage students. One of the few companies that still give bonuses. (Albeit rather low bonuses for part-timers)
Cons: Can't have long hair as a male due to homophobia in the upper managements, can't have beards or any form of piercing as either gender due to their unnecessary "High-Standards" for how their employees are wanted to look.
It's mostly a poor people company with a lot of very trashy people coming in every day. Lot's of self-entitled rude poor people too.
All of the upper class and half of the middle class shops at Whole Foods, not MB.
