I love my job. The company is engaging and the work is rewarding. My only complaint is the high turnover due to a lack of recognition to therapists who, though they do great work, have other responsibilities like school or other jobs, and cannot devote their entire lives to the job with CARD. Also, compensation could definitely be better. It’s not bad at all, but it’s one of the lowest in the area which is disappointing. I love my clients though and love what I get to do!
It is an honor to be able to work with kids that have autism and be a positive influence in their lives. The children are what keep me going. I am giving it a 3/5 due to its cleanliness and methods of teaching children. Also, I believe that I got poor training to become a behavioral therapist. It was kind of like, ok you did some online training and you are good to go! I believe that training needs to be more extensive and there should be a janitor that is in charge of cleaning the restrooms that the kids use, the rug floors in the rooms that have playdoe, and the binder cabinets with the kids information.
CARD drills quickly and efficiently about things you need to know in the applied behavior analysis (ABA) field. There is always supervisors who will be there to assist you with anything you need. The negative thing is the schedule can be inconsistent, especially when families decided to their ABA services. Overall, I would recommend working for this company if you are interested in the applied psychology field and working with special need individuals.
