I started working for Cato September 2018, in that time I've been promoted 3 times. I'm currently an assistant manager, I at times feel very over worked and under paid. My dm is an amazing boss I really like how available they make themselves, previous employers I'd never see my dm and never have any issues resolved but here all my issues are handled in a swift manner. My current issue is I'd like to have benefits which unfortunately I'm not eligible due to not being full time.
I enjoyed working with some great ladies and meeting new people every day. I would like to see the way insurance is handled. They provide insurance with little coverage for a high dollar amount. If it was a little cheaper it would make sense that it wasn’t that great, but you’re paying so much and they don’t pay enough to begin with so you can’t really afford the insurance.
I love Cato because of the people that I work with, however I feel as though overall the company could treat their employees better. They treat customers great and always put their customers first, but treat their employees horribly.
I mostly loved the people that worked with. It is a fun and friendly environment where you meet regular customers and get to know many different stories.
Overall this is a pretty good company to work for, they make working in the fashion industry a very enjoyable experience. However, one of the main things I would change about the company is the pay. From lower level employees to boss's, the pay for the amount of work and pressure they put on the employees do not match. For the work the employees do they deserve much more.
My experience is about a 3.5 overall at the Cato Corporation. I like working with clothes, but that's not all retail is about. I feel as if the Cato Corporation has too many rules, not that rules are a bad thing, but rules that which do not benefit the company in efficiency or profitability. There is a lot of waste- such as damages, packaging, paper work, and so on. I also believe they do not provide employees enough benefits, which is a reason why employee turnover seems high. I like the specific store I work for because my manager and coworkers are nice. They also work well around my school schedule.
Cato will work with you and does care about their employees. However, I have not had very many raises.
Working with this company is pretty easy, I love the inspirational aspect of the company. I do think that the salary for the employees in the retail stores needs to be re-evaluated other than that I love working for Cato Fashion.
My experience working here has been great to far. I love the environment and my coworkers are great. Everyone looks out for one another and we always learn something new from one another.
