BRIC Arts Media Reviews
BRIC is terribly mismanaged, mostly due to nepotism in the hiring of senior management. Senior managers are hired as friends of local politicians and board members. Many come in vastly under-qualified and are self conscious about their lack of experience and knowledge. Consequently, they have been known to overcompensate and pretend to be competent through fear and intimidation. The organization has a great mission, but the problem with management is so systemic, there is little hope for improvement. This causes a high turnover, mostly with their most talented staff.
The organization has a great mission to serve the local Brooklyn community through low cost art, performances, and media. However, the management structure and talent is poor, very hierarchical and repressive to staff members. It's a decent place to get your feet wet but turnover is very high because of poor treatment and low wages.
