i did fulfillment over the holiday season. it starts out busy and eventually slowed down after new years. however, HR, the manager, and my coworkers are super kind and helpful. manger
They were flexible when it comes to making the schedule. It requires a lot of teamwork, especially with putting clothes back on the sales floor.
I love how you can work either part time, like 2 to 3 days. They work with you and your schedule. Also how part timers can have insurance also! I don’t like it how part timers can’t get vacation time or produce paid time off
Firstly, I understand they are a business so the top priority is maximizing profits for shareholders. Secondly, they have a large number of employees so ensuring the happiness of each individual may well be impossible. That being said the management is absolutely deplorable. They appear to have no actual interest in doing there jobs, and tend to dump extra responsibilities on the associates. They seem to spend more time talking and making excuses than actually working. Also, they are terrible at scheduling effectively and distributing hours evenly. They tend to allocate most of the hours to their top sellers which in and of its self is not overtly problematic. However, this comes at the expense of those average workers. There is no reason I should at times have to work 60 hours while the rest of the people in my department get 6-12 hours per week. This is either because they over hire, or because they fail to see the value in investing in other employees hence the high turnover rate.
Good place to work!!!! Workers get a discount card to use on merchandise they want to buy as soon as your hired!
I enjoy working for belk fun and friendly atmosphere. The management team listens to you and always try to make you feel wanted and listened too. They always praise you for your hard work make you feel great about yourself.
I love working for this company ...I have wonderful coworkers and leaders...hoping to one day to be an great leader and example to future Belk associates!
I worked for Belk for two years in the operations department. I was hired on as a part time employee but most of the time I worked full time hours. My only gripes about them was that I worked full time hours when I specifically wanted to work part time hours and even after constantly telling them this, they would still schedule me full time hours. Although this may seem great to have the opportunity to have more hours, it was an issue for me because I had school and they would schedule me during my school time. Management was decent but at times it felt like they were up to their necks in handling problems and couldn't make the right decisions sometimes. Overall, I had really good times and other times not so much. It is a retail job so majority of the time I chalked it up to not everything will be a hundred percent perfect all the time.
I currently work as a sales associate in the Waxahachie, Tx. Store and it has been the best job I have had so far. Management is great and coworkers are always up to help each other.
I had a decent experience working at Belk. They pay is good and working part-time there I'm able to get some decent cash. Scheduling can be all over the place though and it's definitely hard for employees to work with management when it comes to figuring up fair work schedules. I do like the people that I work with and they're always super nice and considerate. All in all, it's an okay place to work.
Not many hours if working on truck and system doesn't always work to look at schedule. If there's a bigger truck between both stores (the location I'm at has a few depts in one store and a few depts in another store with how the mall is laid out.)it most likely won't get done and will have to be finished the next day.
I have worked for Belk off and on for 6 years. The reason I keep coming back is because they truly care about their employees.
I enjoyed working with the customers and with the other associates. The employee discount was nice to have especially when the discount was doubled. The sales at times were good. I didn't like the fact you didn't get many hours especially when it was holiday season but my overall experience was very good.
I wish it wasn't all about competition of who could sell more. Also not flexible about hours. And our lunch break was only an hour but it took ten mins to leave the clock in station and 10 to get there so really we had a 40 min lunch and that was only if you got lucky and no one stopped you on your way out because if you did, you lunch went from 40mins to 25. They should just provide food/snacks. What a rob.
The managers work really hard and the pay is decent for the amount of work. The focus on getting credit card applications should be a concern for the future of their company.
The people and I loved my job. I was a visual associate. It was fun. Loved working with the people in each department. Loved how creative I could be. It was challenging and always changing. Great experience!!
I like shopping and working at Belk very good company. I think people are nice at the job and helpful. The customer seems to like shopping in the store and talking with the workes. If there is something you are looking for and you cannot find it in the store. The online option is a good choice.
