This is a corporate business with many locations nationwide and a few in other countries. They offer the Optimum Wellness Plans, packages with montly payments designed with preventive care in mind. Some clients like the plans, others do not. With so many locations, it is very convenient especially since medical records transfer amongst hospitals. Truck driver clients especially seem to enjoy the benefits, especially since many are located inside PetSmart, which often times offer large parking lots suitable for rigs.
I have worked for Banfield for almost 12 years, but I felt I needed to be doing more, so am leaving for nursing school! Through the years, I have seen many ups and downs and a very large turnover of employees. It is hard work, very little compensation, we are not thanked enough, and the only reason to stay is heart for the pets we help, some clients we love, and personally, the team I work with.

Very little pay for an extremely stressful and demanding job. Work-life balance is almost non-existent. They expect you to give 110% but aren't willing to pay their employees enough to provide for themselves. This company is numbers-driven. They will continue to take on more pets or clients while disregarding if there is adequate staff or the means to provide adequate care. They will sacrifice their employee's well-being and mental health in order to see more pets. Feeling "burnt out" is real and you will definitely experience that working for Banfield. Even when they offer promotions, it's minuscule in comparison to what other companies offer. The benefits are decent and it's a good place to get your foot in the door and some experience but do not stay.
I've worked at this company since January 2017 and I have to say that the experience has been good. The Optimum Wellness Plans allow for affordable veterinary care for cats and dogs in convenient, customizable packages, whether the client has a young or old pet. The veterinarians that I've had the pleasure to work with are both knowledgeable and compassionate about the care of their patients, sometimes even going above an beyond to meet the needs of the clients and patients. The only thing that leaves something to be desired is the care for their associates. At my location we had a rather high number of technicians which didn't allow for full-time associates to work the desired number of hours needed to efficiently maintain the responsibilities of their lives. Everyone always gave more than 100% when it came to providing care for the pets, but it doesn't always seem like fair compensation when we aren't given the expected work hours.
