Athletico Physical Therapy Reviews
Rating 4.44 out of 5 18 reviews
I worked at Athletico Physical Therapy located in Gary, Indiana across from Indiana University Northwest. I was working as a rehab aide which paid $9 which is my biggest complaint of the company. As well as, no benefits are provided for rehab aides. I feel that the company takes advantage of this because most rehab aides are students that are applying to the Physical Therapy programs or Physical Therapist Assistant program. They know that these students want to work as a rehab aide to gain that experience and help them get into PT or PTA school. On a more positive note, I absolutely enjoyed working at this location. That is the best job I've ever had. I looked forward to going to work and never looked at it as a chore. I never dreaded going to work. The biggest reason for this was the environment. My supervisor and coworkers were the best team I've ever worked with. We all helped each other out with our work duties. We all got along and respected each other.
Overall, Athletico is a large and successful company with locations throughout Chicago. Their facilities are well maintained and quality. The quality of care however is not always the best. As a result of Athletico being such a big company, PT's are often expected to fit as many patients as they possibly can into their busy schedules, thus the patients get less time with the PT. Rehab aides are often relied on to take on sometime multiple patients at a time after seeing their PT for only 20-30 minutes. This reduces the clinician and patient contact. Moreover, this often burns out the PT as they are seeing too many patients in one day.
Athletico is the best representation of physical therapy. I have been with Athletico for 3 years, and they have supported me and my dreams of becoming a physical therapist. I have been with the company both as a rehabilitation aide and an office coordinator, and I love both positions. After graduating, my first plan is to be a physical therapist assistant at my current location in downtown Evanston. After gaining experience, I plan to go back to school to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy, and Athletico has been nothing but supportive and resourceful along the way. The company strives on caring for their patients and ensuring their patients receive the best care. Not only do they care about their patients, but they care about their employees and ensure their employees are well taken care of. They provide continuing education resources, ensuring that their clinicians are always up to date with their education. I could ask nothing more of such a great company.
