Advance Auto Parts does not compensate for knowledge or experience. The company does not hire team members based on experience, it is based on filling a spot behind the counter. I have witnessed time and again, people being hired that didn't even know the make of a vehicle. The work/life balance is non-existant, from my experience. If you attend church, do not apply. Part time members do not get Sundays off or even scheduled so attending church is possible. If you are looking for employment that considers family time and balances work and family life, Advance Auto Parts is NOT the company you want to to be employeed by.
This company is very left winged liberal! I worked there for years and then I get transferred to another store cause they ended my job title Ana’s outsourced it! I have a valid ccw permit and I always have my firearm on me to and from work cause the city is kinda criminal like. But the manager somehow fmseen me putting my firearm away in my vehicle in a locked box. Which my state passed a bill that allowed me to do so! Well he called the district manager and the next day I was suspended and two days after that I was terminated! Because they say employees cat ever defend themselves at work but customers are allowed to conseal carry! This company’s such a joke but they are originally from Virginia so I can see the flip flop ways! ILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN AND ANYONE THAT I SEE ILL TELL THEM IF THEY ARE GOING THERE DON! GO SAOMEWERE ELSE TO BUY AUTO PARTS!
My overall experience was good. I learned a great deal about auto parts. My fellow employees were very helpful during my first few weeks as a new employee. As I learned my way around the store, I began to feel more comfortable. I was given the opportunity to work part-time while attending college. I started taking computer classes, which helped me become familiar with the computers at work. I enjoyed helping customers and listening to them. The Pandemic began to affect my job during the first week of March. Most of my fellow employees began having flu-like symptoms. Also during this time, my school shut down and classes went online. Through hard work and dedication, I was able to persevere. These experiences helped me realize that we should seize every opportunity and not take life for granted.
