Yucca Valley is a beautiful place with many internal problems. Potential residents should be aware that this area is a dumping ground for felons from LA County jails. I have been dealing with a hellish situation with the next door neighbors for 2+ years. Multiple calls to the police with NO active response to the problem of ongoing, unprovoked harassment and violence. The lastest tact of this creep next door has been burning fires, in a hazardous manner, in his yard, almost everyday for 5 months, for 5 or 6 hours a day.Massive smoke and suffering for all surrounding neighbors. As a functioning city, this place sucks. When police, fire and even the city manager do nothing to even investigate. I would think twice about living here, and most definitely spend a great deal of time trying to find a decent neighborhood of people's, because these criminal Bozo's are every other person out here. I could tell endless stories on how hopeless this place is.

I love being in a small town away from the chaos of cities! It's more communal here, has a lot of art, beauty, and support within the small town. I would love less of the same chains, however and more variety on stores. Other than that it's been a beautiful experience for me here.
We moved here from OC and absolutely LOVE it. We are upper upper middle class and can afford to live anywhere but out here is absolutely awesome, still 1.5 hours from LA and OC, beautiful nature everyday. Everything is 1/3 the cost of LA and OC so there is so much pressure off me to work extra hard there for less stress. Energy is more mellow overall, people are nice, if you are a nature and outdoors lover this is heaven with the national park and tons of off road trails everywhere (we have toys). If you are middle class you feel wealthy here and can afford a true estate easily. We have over 1 acre and a brand new custom home yet are 5 mintues from our bank, grocery stores, wal mart and tons of delicious mom and pop resturaunts that are way better than the food we had in OC. There are tons of beautiful parks for the kids (we have 5), a super affordable private school 1/3 the cost of OC and Folsom (near sacramento) where we lived before and lots of museums etc to entertain the fam.
