Working in Yorktown
Beautiful place to raise a family! great school district, however, very costly! Not very diverse, mainly white, asian, and indians.
This town really tries to get everyone involved in community events. The town events are huge and they are also pet friendly. Recently there have been costume contests for dogs, it encourages people to come out and see what's going on in local businesses and the general population. The sense of community is beyond huge in terms of high school sports. Lacrosse is arguably the biggest sport here and has been for over 30 years. People coordinate outfits for the crowds in a game and you always see every single person in the crowd matching. Whether we win or lose we are always up and cheering for our team, or the other team, and having a good time. Everyone works together to make sure anyone and everyone can come to the events.
This area is very family oriented. Everyone is friendly and their is a wonderful neighborhood atmosphere. People wave to one another going down the street and the kids on the block have lemonade stands in the summer. It is the ideal suburbia. If I could do it all over again, I would choose to live here. Although there is not much to do on a weekend night, it's a safe area with plenty of day time activities. Compared to everywhere else in the country, I think that it is definitely more sophisticated and cultured. There are many historical sites and tons of beautiful historic architecture in the surrounding towns. In the future, I think that the town will continue to expand to accommodate the growing population.
