I Moved here 15 years ago and absolutely love it here. The majority of the peopl are very friendly and helpful. The library system in York has awesome reading incentives. We are able to hike and bike on all of the beautiful trails at each of the parks. The school community feels like a family who will bend over backwards to include and help you. I have had experience in York Township Elementary and Dallastown Intermediate School and my girls have soared!

York Township is a good place for families, but the public transportation is lacking. I wish the roads were more bike friendly. It is also lacking diversity. The public schools are fairly decent. There are several great fruit and local food stands during summer.
York has a rather cold winter that typically brings a large amount of snow (usually topping off around one foot of snow for the total winter season) with occasional blizzards and severe wind chills, such as what occurred this previous winter of 2014. Summers are usually warm but not overbearing with heat, although it tends to be hot, hazy, and humid around August which drives temperatures upward. Fall and springtime bring wonderful breezes of fresh air, and the color changes of the trees in the fall and blooming of flowers in the spring are just breathtaking. Both fall and spring usually have mild, not dramatic temperature changes. However, sometimes the weather has a tendency to be inconsistent. For example, it can fluctuate twenty degrees over a course of two days. Natural disasters seldom occur in York. Aside from the occasional sinkhole, flood warning, or tornado warning, or winter weather advisory, nothing too severe such as hurricanes occur here. A jacket and anything that allows me to dress comfortably in layers are essential to my wardrobe for living here. You never know when it will get warm or chilly. Also, sneakers are important to have, seeing as York has many parks and trails in addition to a beautiful countryside that make hiking a must.
