Growing up in yonkers you’d think I’d want to start a life somewhere else, but not me. In the future I’d love to have a home here and start a family. I’m near the city, my family, amazing food, and a wonderful community. I know in the future I can send my child to school with ease and know my child will make it back home to me. Yonkers school district is one of the safest schools. Growing up all the doors would be locked the only way to get in the school was through the front of the school which always has a guard. With that being said I believe Yonkers is an amazing place.
Live here for around a year and many of my neighbors from Tuckahoe too. Quiet area of Yonkers. Tuckahoe is a noisy village getting woken up by construction equipment and street sweepers for 16 years before 630 AM . because of ignorant , arrogant mayors , public works supt. The street sweeper driver had more rights than 6600 residents. Yonkers City government has more accountability to taxpayers concerns and complaints.
I was born and raised in Yonkers. I moved and I missed the whole the community. Doing everything with true friends. I was going back every afternoon just to feel apart of something. I loved the town I never had any issues and such. Everything was just lovely. Going back again and again makes me feel like I never left which is the best feeling in the world because I love feeling part of something. It was home and it always will be!
It's a great place to live. You meet many new faces all around Yonkers. It's easy to get around if you or someone else knows the area. There are also many hills to traverse around.
The City of Hills
Yonkers, New York is a suburb just outside of New York City located in the County of Westchester. Yonkers is home to about 195,000 residents making it the biggest city in the county of Westchester. With its close proximity to New York City, Yonkers is a great place for those who want to escape the congestion of the city yet still be able to commute there conveniently if need be. The Ridge Hill Shopping Center, Cross County Shopping Center, and Shopping Plazas along Central Avenue have the top retail stores and restaurants in the city. The downtown Yonkers area offers a great view of New York City, the George Washington Bridge, and the Mario Cuomo Bridge, along the historical Hudson River. In addition to the scenery, Yonkers is at the forefront of fighting against racial equality and social injustice. Recently, the city painted a Black Lives Matter mural in front of city hall in the downtown area of the city. This illustrates their stance on social inequality.

I am born and raised in Yonkers. My family has been here since the 1940's. Yonkers is a diverse suburb full of history and beautiful scenery.
Yonkers has been my home for the 17 years . I've explored this city through cars, through buses, through bikes and through my own two feet and its always been an adventure here.
I like the environment in yonkers and how near it is to New York city. Living in Yonkers is a perfect balance of city life and suburban life.
Some areas need to be more groomed but for the most part yonkers is a wonderful place to live

Lived in Yonkers my entire life and have enjoyed my time here. Where I live is very safe and quiet and everyone is very friendly.
Yonkers is racially diverse, very close and small.
Neighbors are friendly. Highway is close by and public transportation is easy to find.

It is not as busy as Manhattan but still very close to commute to and from. The neighborhood is very family oriented and fairly safe. It is close to malls and all the major trains including the MTA subway and metro north. It is also close to many highways.
Yonkers is a beautiful city with great history behind it. You will never see the same person twice in Yonkers, as everyone is so unique. Located about 30 minutes outside of Manhattan there is always something for you to do and explore, whether that be going to a park, like Untermyer, or grabbing a bite to eat. I am so thankful to call Yonkers home.
Yonkers seems like a pretty underrated city while being the 4th largest city in the state of New York. I've been in Yonkers my entire life and once I leave for college, it won't be the same. My city has so much diversity and the community grows stronger and stronger every day. I love the fact that I've made so much friends in the schools I've gone to and even just outside of school. Yonkers has so much of my fondest memories and I wouldn't trade them for the world.
Very diverse and versatile city to be in. It allows for opportunities to expand and to those who want to pursue greatness. The improvements in the social spectrum is very inviting to those who want to be a part of our city.
I have lived in Yonkers for twelve years now and find Yonkers to be convenient for shopping, traveling and shopping. I find Yonkers to be safe to raise my son and I have no plans of moving in the near future.
I have lived in Bryn mawr yonkers ny for over 26 years and never had a problem. My neighbors are very friendly and clean. I love how we are the closest westchester city to NYC. I can attend a broadway show in NYC and be in the comfort of my home 20 minutes later, it is great. We are close to main high ways and metro north is just 5 minutes away in our closest town Bronxville which by the way is rated as one of the best town to live in westchester county. We can just walk to bronxville thats how close we are. Like any big city there are places in Yonkers for example: south Yonkers I would not live. The schools are not the great due to the busing problem. Im pretty sure if the children were able to attend their neighborhood schooling rather than busing them around the Yonkers public school would be a better school district. There is always private schools available for parents not happy with the public schools. As for crime, we don't have crime in our part of the neighborhood.
Yonkers has accessibility to the city and has places for shopping and fun such as Cross County and Ridge Hill. You are able to watch movies, shop for clothes and video games and do your groceries as well. Some areas are more safe than others, but the people are fairly nice unless you upset them and there is always a store to go to if you need anything on the spot.
