You have just enough amenities locally to keep you satisfied, like Wal-Mart and Casa Mia Pizza:P It's just a short 20 minute drive to popular shopping places like Lacey and Olympia. This is where you will see the, bigger chains. If you're in the Military, you could be stationed at JBLM Base.
Fact: Everyone we have come in contact with are shockley friendly! I'm not use to that... haha.

I am a senior in high school and I think my experience with the city of Yelm has been very good. Yelm is a very good place to live because of a few reasons: first, the schools here are very good, in my opinion Yelm High school allows students to learn at a high level. I feel the school system puts a lot of effort into making it the best it can be, the teachers are very good especially at the higher level classes which are very important. Another example of why Yelm is a great place to live is because of its first responders. I have a lot of respect for all of the work our first responders do. During the dry summer months, there have been some serious fire outbreaks and the firefighters have responded phenomenally, also I am a runner for Yelm high school so I run every day, and not once have ever felt unsafe running around town, and this is due to the fact that our law enforcement has also done an excellent job.
What I like about Yelm is the community and location. It is a small town which means most people know each other and the town is unified with their support on things like school pride. I like the location because it is not too far from the bigger cities in Washington, Olympia and Seattle. It is also only a couple hours away from places such as the beach or Portland.
