" residents tend to lean conservative" ?! Obviously you've never visited YS. Once labeled the "Berkley of the Midwest," conservatives are far outnumbered in our quirky little community by liberals, progressives, socialists, probably a communist or two. Diversity shows in the many "BLM" signs and rainbow flags around town and the regular BLM marches/gatherings, the weekly peace vigil at the edge of downtown, and in how the town rallied around a long-time resident facing INS issues.

Yellow Springs is a cute hippy town with diverse people. It began with a dream to become one of the most progressive utopias in the Nation, but after a lot of arguments, that didn't happen. However, those values of community, inclusivity, and equity are still held by most Villagers. Only about 3,500 people live in the boundaries of Yellow Springs. It is surrounded by land-trusts that turn acres into open-spaces and farms so that the Village does not grow/spread. It has several nature preserves including the Glen Helen, which is a 1,100-acre preserve owned by the local College, Antioch.
I have lived in the Villiage of Yellow Springs for over two years. The people I've met are friendly and easy-going. They enjoy the simple life. It seems everyone knows everyone else and you probably shouldn't live here if you are looking to keep your personal business to yourself. There are a few celebrities among the villagers, including the comedian, Dave Chappel. He often throws parties.

Fantastic ultra liberal small town. Great downtown with everything you need for daily life. You don’t really need to go out of town unless you want to. Beautiful art, amazing people. Very very progressive town— they’re walking the talk in terms of loving, open-hearted liberal ideals. Great place for a family.
