It is fantastic! Even though there isn't much to do in the winter times, you can always look forward to having the river nearly in your back door.

Yankton is a quaint town with a population of 14,557 people. It is a decent size city with a gorgeous view of chalkstone cliffs along the Missouri river. This town has a lot of history, as it was the capital of the Dakota territories and was part of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Yankton has potential to bring more revenue to this area. A casino was mentioned as being a possibility for more revenue and potentially could help restore some run down areas of this town. Yankton has to be recognized as a geographically historical area for this to take place. More of the arts would also bring out an attractive side to this beautiful little town.
Currently the fire hydrants do match in this town. I hate this. It's a safety issue and it gives the community bad moral. I've tried to talk about this to people but seem to get nowhere. If we had matching fire hydrants this town would go to the next level... Where is the community organizer? How hard is it to just have nice fire hydrants!

Pretty safe community but not without crime. A person is killed maybe every other year (normally family/domestic incidents) and vandalism does sometimes occur. The "gang" activity is a joke and caused mostly by immature youth who need to grow up but do not pose a physical violent threat to anyone. Love our EMT first responders, and good hospital too. Generally really great for safety.
