Perfect location to live if you enjoy a rural, yet 'nearby' lifestyle.

Contrary to what some have reviewed, it is far from 'not much to do'. It really all depends on what ones version of 'something to do' entails. If that something to do means a robust nightlife, then yes, you are an urbanite and Woodstock is not likely your cup of tea.

But if your idea of 'something to do' includes almost endless recreational opportunities (cycling - road and mtn, horseback, x/c skiing, kayaking, hiking, etc), Wonderful scenic vistas, rolling hills, local farms that are open to the public for shopping local produce, meats, dairy, ice cream, etc, and a super friendly country inclined citizenry that are aligned on protecting a real rural gem from suburban sprawl, then Woodstock cannot be beat. Add to that, a high school that is nearly on par with pricey private institutions.

All in all, great place to live and even more so to bring up a family.

Beautiful scenery. Family friendly community. Close to amenities but away from hustle and bustle. Plenty of farms in the area to purchase local organic food. Great place to live when commuting to Providence, Hartford or Boston for work. Fantastic schools!
Great place to raise a family! Many local farms and products to shop local. There are many walking trails and opportunities to explore the beautiful community. Many initiatives to preserve open land so Woodstock offers a beautiful New England landscape for a Sunday drive.
