Moved here in 2020. Seven Bridges area. Perfect location. Great place to leave and easily enjoy all the indoor and outdoor activities that the Western suburbs have to offer. All at a significantly cheaper price, than say a Naperville address. In fact, it was $60,000 cheaper for me….for the exact same newly built home! Easy access to everywhere. Much easier to travel from if you work east compared to living on the west side of Naperville because you avoid all that traffic.
Woodridge is a great suburb! It is in a great location close to expressways, Naperville downtown, Downers Grove downtown, and Lisle downtown. There are also many parks and bike trails in the area. Woodridge downtown has also improved with brewery and restaurants. Lately, a lot of young professionals and singles have been moving into the area. It must be due to the migration from the city due to COVID as lot of people are looking for both space and convenience that is more affordable than the city. The ARC facility is awesome. Anyone looking for value and convenience should consider Woodridge. It often is overlooked due to the surrounding suburbs being in spotlight.
Woodridge is a place where people are kind and there aren't many glaring issues at first glance. However, it falls very short in terms of diversity. Strong public schools are only strong enough to teach students about other cultures, not allowing them to experience them for themselves. Furthermore, the neighborhood fails to acknowledge several other systematic failures of community that have plagued this country since its inception. The safety and economic stability of the area provided me a great childhood, but an ignorant childhood that was also sheltered from the great suffering and turmoil that many other people face. I know for a fact that I grew up with many privileges--my home town certainly being one of them. Living with privilege paints my experience of the town in a positive way, making me rate it highly in many of its aspects. I only wonder if I would have similar opinions of Woodridge if I came from a different background? I am thankful for what I have, though.
