Hello, I am born and raised in Woodland, CA. I am a first generation college student in a Mexican household. Living in this small but growing community I never faced any racism or inequality growing up because of our agriculture city. Majority of the population are Mexicans, and Americans working in harmony to provide a safe community for all who are welcome to live here or stop by to get to know our city. Something I would like to see a change is our homeless population. It would be nice to have a better understanding and judgement on the homeless community because every individuals story is different. I would like to build a safe community that has a small health clinic, career workshops and a community garden with cooking classes. In these sites it would be college student volunteers. So that the students can observe and provide other improvements that are needed to help these individuals integrate back into society. As well as, provide help for other individuals who are in need.
Woodland is a great town. It's the perfect mix of suburbs and agriculture, with farmland on the outskirts and new houses being built all the time! We have plenty of shopping centers, and many freeways and roads coming in and out of Woodland. My favorite part of the town is the history. We have our beautiful, old Woodland Opera House where you can still watch performances, gorgeous mansions from the 1800's, awesome restaurants, and trees everywhere! It's the perfect mix for anyone's taste.
Woodland is a small yet beautiful town that offers so much to their residents! It is called the City of Trees and it is true, it is a town filled with greenery everywhere.
