After 14 years my husband & I left. It is sad because it used to be a good town. Crime is not reported in the Voices, get a subscription to the Republican American if you want to really know what goes on in town. On December 19, 2019 our old neighbor flipped their SUV onto our property. Woodbury Police did not notify us about the incident. I found out Feb 2020 when I was looking for what happened when two suspects broke into the vacant house across the street. I called 911. The police tried to justify two strange men being there who asked me if the house was vacant. They had dark clothing, walked around the house, then broke in. I heard a popping sound not the typical sound when a door opens. The house was not for sale. There have been a lot of break ins and our other neighbors had their car stolen. The school system has gone down hill too. The other new neighbor seemed to think it was all right to rip out my plants 3 feet over the property line.
Woodbury is a small rural town in Connecticut and definitely had its downsides, but in general I love living here. Its a fairly conservative town despite being in Connecticut, and the income level is probably around average or slightly above for most residents. I have to say the diversity is very poor, as close to all residents are Caucasian. Woodbury also does not have any large stores or chain restaurants, so I have to go to the Southbury if I want to go someplace like Starbucks. It is positioned nicely between NYC, Boston, and the shoreline. There is plenty of different restaurants and places to eat here, including about ten different pizza places. Its a very historic town with many cute colonial houses and plenty of white churches. Overall, I have had a great experience living in Woodbury despite the cold winters.
