The public school system in Wisconsin Rapids definitely has some of the best teachers around. Teachers are willing to go the extra mile to help a student be successful, and get the most out of their learning. Wisconsin Rapids is a great place to raise a family, with many schools and great neighborhoods through the area. Wisconsin Rapids is also very centrally located, only an hour from Marshfield or Wausau, and half an hour from Stevens Point. This means that even if there aren't many job opportunities in Rapids, commuting to work is easier. Wisconsin Rapids also boasts a few biking and walking paths along the Wisconsin River, Lake Nepco, and Lake Wazeecha. Rapids is a great area to get active recreationally!

My favorite thing about my hometown of Wisconsin Rapids, is the community. Everyone is friendly towards each other and everyone seems to have another's back, whether it be financially, spiritually or physically. We hold the World Ski Championships and thousands attend. We, as a community, focus a lot of our attention to the youth and sports aspects of our city. In fact, we are the home of Vince Biegel, who was drafted as a Linebacker for the Green Bay Packers in 2017. We also have produced other amazing athletes, such as Isaiah Westfall who was the Best Receiver in the state, 2 years running. Our High School was also rated in the top 18% of public high schools in the nation. As for the growth of our town, I would love to see more places for the youth to spend their time. Such as outdoor activities and a variety of events. The free time we have as students is often spent at home because of the lack of things we are able to do. Sadly, it is too easy to get bored here.
The drug problem is always getting worse. The police are trying to limit the drugs circulating around but its just not cutting it. I work at a hardware store so i hear all kinds of stories on why people come in to get hardware for their projects. One of the most common reasons for new locks and door knobs is thieves. There has been a increasing number of people breaking into houses and stealing other peoples property. My assumption to the reason that is happening is to get money for drugs. I myself know a hand full of people that either overdosed on drugs or that have taken their life due to addiction. The city of Wisconsin Rapids would not be as bad if the drug level where to come down and hopefully following it, the crime rate.
