I believe this town to be very safe, but the down side to that safety is that the police have nothing better to do than to pull people over for nonsensical things. The public schools are excellent in Winfield for general education courses, but I advise against sending your children to the Winfield Elementary School if they have special needs. The teachers there have no idea what they are doing, and the special needs classrooms do not have enough teachers it requires to operate those classrooms effectively.

I moved to Putnam County in 6th grade and I have attend Winfield's school system since. I adore Winfield for it's friendliness and tight sense of community. Everyone is willing to step in for families in need and always encourages every child to strive to reach their fullest potential. The town is very safe, quaint, and clean.
I have lived in the Winfield area for roughly 4 years and have grown to love it. There is no better place to raise a family. I do like the convenient location between Charleston and Huntington. There are many great neighborhoods and a great school system. I have no fear for my safety in this area and the people are overly friendly. The only downfall I have noticed is the lack of activities within a close radius, particularly in the restaurant industry. If Winfield had more options in this area it would be the perfect place.
