School and sports program is great! Town itself is a little boring, but luckily the upper valley is right next door for entertainment and jobs! People are kind, and there are some very lovely restaurants in town. Pizza chef and Frazers are good quality food, at very reasonable prices. My only recommendation is to stay away from what's known as "J street" its the "bad part of town" that every town has. Not big, not dangerous, just not the ideal street to live on. Other than that Windsor is a great town to raise a family in. I highly HIGHLY recommend their school system and sports programs. The community is very involved and it is a quality environment.
Windsor is a small town where nothing goes on. There are a few restaurants, but most of them close by 8 pm. It's usually pretty easy to walk around unless you live more than a few miles away from downtown. Windsor is far away from any major city, the closest being Boston and that's about three hours away. There are few larger towns within a half-hour drive, but most places close by 10 pm. Gas stations and fast food places are the only places open 24hrs. But there is only one gas station in Windsor.
Windsor is also a very small town, so everyone knows each other in a sense though most of the people who live there are people who are looking to settle down or have lived in Windsor their whole lives.
It also used to be a more active town, but a couple of factories closed down, and it crippled the economy and made the town sleepy. A lot of people in Windsor long for the old days but do very little to change anything. There is a strong sense of nostalgia within the older generations.

Windsor is a very close community with many caring people. The community comes together in good times and bad to show support for each other. Community members who no longer have kids in the school district still go to home sports games to route for our teams. Our police and fire departments are involved with community events and make their presence known to the community.
