As a current resident of Windsor, there is not a lot to offer for younger people. Windsor is an area tailored for a slow-paced lifestyle where people come to settle down. If this sounds like you, then Windsor is the place for you! Windsor does offer good food spots around town that offer a variety of cultures. I also think Windsor is a lot safer for students compared to Bloomfield and Hartford.
I’m a former resident of Windsor, CT, having lived in the Deerfield section of town, from 1964 to 1974. I attended the old Deerfield School for two-years, moving to Junior High at the old L P Wilson Junior High, then graduating from Windsor High School, Class of 1973. I enjoyed Windsor and feel very fortunate and proud to have grown-up in a quintessential New England town where people help one another and share a fierce loyalty to their community. Windsor has always been a well managed town that had the foresight to diversify it’s Grand List with a broad spectrum of industry, offering top-notch town services, but kept it’s property taxes (mill rate) low. A great family community, with affordable housing. I miss Connecticut, New England , and especially Windsor, with many fond memories.
I have lived in Windsor since the summer of 2007. I went to Windsor High School my last two years of high school. During the time that I moved to Connecticut I knew no-one, I knew that it was completely slower than were I am originally from. The neighborhood where I grew up was a mixed culture environment. They were quiet and some were friendly. It is a nice town to raise children in, as well as the school district being great. It is also, a safe family friendly environment. From what I see it is diverse, affordable, and it still is a growing upcoming area.
