A lot of the people in this town are very conceited and snooty, even though they are not actually that rich. I live in a 3500 square foot house in a neigborhood, and well, they are rude to my family and call us poor because theirhouses are "newer, more well built, and overall, more alluring". The school systems are just okay in academics, certainly nothing to shame, but definitely not as great as a a lot of Massachusetts' schools. Honestly, my family and I are all city people, and the food absoloutely sucks here. My daughter was bullied because she was "different", the school did nothing to help us, and in fact, claimed we were harrassing them! We moved her to a new school in SALEM NH and it is simply wonderful. If you are reading this and thinking of moving here, just do yourself a solid and move to Salem instead. Even North Salem. Both Salem and Windham have similar educations.
My overall experience with Windham New Hampshire is a bit of a mixed review. With going to school (High School) I am very disappointed in the school I went to. There were many staff members that could care less about helping out their students and would rather push them out of the school to keep their graduation rate higher than other schools. If I were to rate living in Windham, I would give a higher rating due to how quiet the little town is. I like living near different towns and establishments at the same time not having to deal with city noise and city issues. If I had a better experience in high school I know for sure my rating for Windham NH would be 5 stars.
Terrible overall dining options. Highly transient town - people move in with families / move out when they graduate high school. Middle school is both crowded and ill-equipped to prepare students for the rigors of high school academia. Revolving door of teachers and administrators. Now on 3rd school super in a brand new SAU. Last high school principal had a nervous breakdown and left. Quality of local school board administration is poor to fair. If your kid has college aspirations, suggest private schools in the area, which are good quality options. No center of town to speak of. Great social media interaction and engaged public.
Good access to rec facilities, although the Ain park is typically crowded on the weekends. Public safety is top notch. 35 minutes from downtown Boston (without traffic). Suggest owning a home without municipal water. Ultra high taxes.
