I've lived in Winder nearly my entire life, and have always loved it! The best part is how small and "country" some areas are; it has the "hometown" vibe. It also has a lot less traffic than cities in surrounding counties. Unfortunately, highways are causing more building and traffic, but before that started, Winder would be a good 4.5 stars.

Hate to say this, I've been living here for 25 years and it's still a one-horse town the streets are too small and good restaurants, do you like Mexican food, you got to go all the way to Bethlehem, for any decent restaurant, or either Braselton or Hoschton spell ashamed, Winder!
It is very close between Athens, Gwinnett, Auburn, and other places. Construction is occurring all around Winder and Bethlehem so the traffic is a little crazy, but the construction is meant to make things safer and easier. There are tons of stores and restaurants around. I think the school system is good except for the high schools. Behavior and safety seem to be better at Apalachee than Winder though. The teachers are fairly great here as well.
