Wilton Manors is a charming island-city situated in Fort Lauderdale. It attracts gay men and older retirees, and it was a happy place to grow up. My own home was lush and green, and I fondly recall kayaking in the nearby river.
Wilton Manors is a predominantly gay bedroom community. It is in close proximity to downtown Ft Lauderdale and surrounded by rivers. The city is appropriately named "Island City." I would describe Wilton Manors as a self-contained urban village with a small town feel. The city's current population is about 12,000 people. For the last five years, Wilton Manors has ranked in the top two cities in Broward County for property value increases. There are future plans to create a transit hub on the west side of the railroad tracks next to Wilton Station ( a $110 million condominium development). I would definitely choose to live here again. Wilton Manors is a relatively young, gay community. Many of the homes have been remodeled and we have a bustling downtown area with restaurants, shops, bars and art galleries. The future looks bright for Wilton Manors as property values continue to increase. It is also a very friendly and diverse community with a lot to offer.
