I haven't experienced much crime personally, but I do know that our community suffers from things such as theft and vandalism. My grandmother's house has had a number of things stolen from her property. The police responded but not immediately and the person who stole from my grandmother was never found. Also, when my mom has called because people near our home have loud music playing at all hours of the night, the police took nearly an hour to respond to her. This shows me that although our community has police, they do little more than stop speeding cars that go down the highway.

I've lived in Wilder my whole life. It is a small town, very rural, but it has always been home to me and always will be. I live in a quiet neighborhood and everyone respects everybody in it.
I live in an agricultural are. The economy and job opportunity are dependent often on the agricultural situation. We have two processing plants within 15 miles of where I live. When these companies reduce or shut down production, people are laid off. Other businesses in the are mostly food industry and small business start-ups. In my immediate community of approximately 1,700 we have a total of 10 businesses and one school. Most employment is found 15 miles out or farther.
