I just moved there from Milwaukee and there wasn't much of a difference. Families living in small houses. Roads need work. Overall feeling of unease to outsiders. My advice is don't be caught alone and always know where you are. That sounds bad, but honestly that's something everyone should know about new places. This town can be fixed up a bit, but it is also home to a lot of great people.
Whiteriver Arizona is home to the White Mountain Apache people and those who love the outdoor life. There are beautiful breathtaking views everywhere. Whiteriver is absolutely perfect all year long because of all the four seasons. The recreational activities are endless, from the white-water rafting in the Salt River to camping, hiking, and fishing which is practically limitless just like the amazing game and wild-life. Every year there is an annual Pow-Wow which is held close by the beautiful Hon-dah Resort and(means welcome) Casino. It is a place of proud heritage, and beautiful traditions which are still passed on from the wise elders today.
Whiteriver is located on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation of the White Mountain Apache Tribe. It's a small town where everyone knows everyone. The people there are very dedicated on continuing education for the sake of generations to come. They are also very traditional people. The land that surrounds them is breathtaking. A lot of recreational activities like fishing, hiking, horseback riding. During the winter they open up the Sunrise Ski Resort. The food is great and simple. The weather there is always on point. There is only things to do outdoors. If you're looking for clubs then you would be out of luck since the closest club/bar is the Lions Den or the Lodge which is about a 25 minute drive from Whiteriver. However there is Hondah Casino Resort and Conference Center where some of the young folks hang out at. Job opportunities are hard to come by, you're either not qualified or over qualified. Safety is complicated to explain. Stay around positive people and you'll be set.
