We moved here in 2015 and have kids. Overall, it's a nice village. We love our neighbors, it's pretty, and easy to live here. Our kids can bike or walk to see friends and play in parks. It's close to culture, sports, entertainment, shopping. It's relatively safe, though the last year we've seen crimes spike and have a lot of car jackings and break ins. We pulled our kids from the public schools because the politics of the school was terrible. We the district cared more about social issues than academics, and the board meetings were appalling - neighbors yelling at one another. There is very little tolerance for diversity - racial, social or ideological. So, being an adult here can be difficult, but being a child is wonderful.
The best public and private schools in the state attract families committed to a family-centric lifestyle. Children safely walk to school on tree lined streets. Houses include mansions and modest ranches, all lovingly landscaped. You find 2 parks on Lake Michigan, easy access to bike paths, tennis courts, a new baseball park, unique stores and cafes, and much more. All of these amenities result in high property taxes which everyone proudly complains about!
I loved growing up in Whitefish Bay! I went to Holy Family (a Catholic school in WFB) for grades K-8, and then attended Whitefish Bay High School. I had amazing experiences at both. The sense of community here is fantastic, and I also love the many beaches and parks that this suburb offers. WFB has beautiful homes and is overall a great place for families to live!
