Working in Wheeling
Wheeling is accurately nicknamed "the friendly city" and for good reason. It is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. I was born and raised in Wheeling. I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel around the world on several occasions, and still look forward to coming home. The crime rate is low, and while the night life and activities aren't as plentiful as other bigger cities, Wheeling is like much else in life: what you make it. I am proud to be a product of Wheeling and will always proudly own my West Virginia heritage no matter where life takes me.
A low rent here is $700 a month. Teachers and nurses are very low paid. Good place to raise children. Very boring area to live in. Drugs are rampant partly due to boredom i believe. Lots of flooding and snow. We need more for kids to do! We do have a great Hockey team, Wheeling Nailers! And we are close to the burgh and cbus. Our options for nightlife are limited. Mostly for older people ready to retire here! It's okay , but, once my kids grow up I'm leaving the area and I encourage them to as well.
There really is not a lot to do, it is quite boring here. The only thing you can do to keep yourself occupied is going to someone else’s house to hangout. That would be ok with me if Wheeling was a farm town, but it’s not. It is a town that is trying to be a city, but it’s streets are so empty you can see a tumble weed roll past on the sidewalk. I’ve met good people here however. I have some really good friends. I do plan on moving away, but I will always keep in touch with them.
