Wheat Ridge is a still-almost-affordable suburb on the west side of Denver. It's close enough into town still feel connected, with easy access to downtown, the highlands, edgewater, etc., but with larger properties and quieter streets. And the foothills and mountains are within arms' reach.

It's not the most walkable of areas (yet) and you'll find yourself driving to just about everything. That said, there is an effort underway to make 38th St more of a pedestrian oriented area, complete with shops and restaurants, creating more of a downtown/city center environment.

Wheat Ridge is a good city. It's just west of Denver, so there's unfortunately the same recent influx of residents to the area, without the appropriate supporting infrastructure. Traffic is terrible, shopping is difficult, schools are overcrowded. But it's fairly safe, and has a small-town feel even though it's a suburb of a much larger city.
It’s a quiet area despite how built up it is. You have everything you need in close proximity, plenty of close employment options, shops, reaterraunts and entertainment. Yet, there are plenty of hidden nature gems and lakes about for that natural feel. We are also very close to the mountains, a ten minute ride in the car and you have all the trails and adventures you need.
