Westwood has a beautiful center of town with a library, movie theatre, and gazebo. On Thursday nights in the summertime, Westwood has free outdoor concerts at the gazebo. In the past they have also hosted outdoor movie nights by the train station for the kids. The hub is full of small businesses from restaurants and bars, to hair salons, shops, and boutiques. Every year, Westwood hosts it’s popular Home For The Holidays parade. Hundreds to thousands of Bergen County residents attend to watch the floats and car displays. The school district itself is pretty decent and the neighborhoods are considerably safe. Most families I know here have lived in this town for more than 1 generation. The traffic can be annoying at times especially when the train comes through town, but otherwise it is a very nice town.
wow, this place is a fooler..everyone is better then the other.. the store owners are doing you a favor by taking your money.. you have not met obnoxious and mean until you go to lavianos..a lovely looking store, but do not be fooled.very clickish..the best bartender was at the iron horse..jim was very normal. surprise..! lots of payton place drama..see the movie, return to payton place..i am sure there are lots of nice families , somewere, but they are busy with the kids..single can be complicated because there is so much going on..so if you are not a heavy partier but not a holly roller you will have to search..good luck..the bus to nyc is so convient.. the passangers are rude, the drivers are mean but you can get to nyc..do not answer the pay phone by the bus stop because it will be a obscene phone call..if you do answer do not complain to anyone because they do not care...good luck.
Westwood is the ideal place to live. I live walking distance from a downtown area which gives me access to several restaurants, a movie theatre, coffee shops, and stores. Also a walking distance is a large park with several soccer, baseball, and football fields with a mile-long walking path surrounding the perimeter. I enjoy that my neighborhood is safe, family friendly, and diverse. I can walk to one of four elementary schools in the district as well as the middle school, and the high school is about a mile away. All of the schools in the district are safe spaces that provide the students with a great education. In addition, Westwood is only a short drive or train ride to New York City. This is great for work commuters especially. Westwood is about an hour to the nearest beach, by car or train, which makes day trips very manageable. Westwood can be on the expensive side for home-owning because of the close proximity to New York City, but I have to say it is absolutely worth it.
