West Wendover has always been my home, although it’s a very small town it’s help me become the person I am today. Being a part of a small town mean the members of the community do whatever is possible to see the younger people of the town succeed. Many of us here aren’t noticed by bigger cities, which means we might not get all the opportunities that are being offered to other students or people. Being a senior in high school, I’ve had my future planned out and with the motivation and support from all my neighbors I know I’ve tried harder just to show them that they have helped me out so much. They have given me so much motivation to keep going and do all possible to make my dreams reality. Although I do believe West Wendover is a great little town, I do think there are things which would make it even better. There’s so much talent out here and I want to be able to one day show people that. I also want to see more opportunities become available for everyone.

I lived in West Wendover almost my whole life. The casinos are beautiful especially from the top of a mountain. A lot of people from out of town come mainly for the casinos. It is a really small town with little activity for teenagers or kids to do. If you get in an accident you have to go out of town. The closest hospital is 2 hours. It's a safe area with little gang activity and violence. It's so small that everyone knows who you are and what you do for a living. This is a place that I would recommend for people who want a safe environment. But if you want to pursue your dreams I suggest that you go elsewhere. Many people here lose their passion because they get lost in drugs. They get into drugs because we don't have anything or anyone motivating us to become a better person. I think that this town will grow one day just not now.
West Wendover is a small, casino town. It's perfect if you are looking for a quiet, out of the way place. Most job opportunities are either teaching jobs or working in many aspects of the casinos. The largest grocery is Smith's with very few other options to purchase supplies. Salt Lake City, Utah is only 120 miles east of the town if one is looking for more resources.
