West View is a small boro just 10-15 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. Top on my list of pros is the police force and how present they are patrolling and responding. Crime is low and the schools are good. Also our public works department is first rate—snow covered streets have never been an issue in winter (I used to leave for work at 5:00 a.m. and they were already plowed) and street cleaners never fail to show up the rest of the year!! Residents take care of their property and take pride in their working class backgrounds. Neighbors look out for one another. While there is shopping and restaurants in the immediate area, I would love to see a revitalization in the main business district—it could be a quaint showplace bringing in more customers! Higher end stores in the shopping plaza would be a real boost as well. West View is a great place to raise a family, commute to work, or retire!

I enjoy the quiet neighborhood of West View. We have everything we need here and are only fifteen minutes from the city. I believe there is an opportunity for this area to become revitalized and bring more retail and restaurants to the area. West View is ripe for redevelopment and could rebrand itself as being a nice place to live right outside of the city. Betsy Ann Chocolates is located here and they have some of the best chocolate my husband and I have tasted. It is right on Perry Highway and connects you to McKnight Road. West View is a great place to live with plenty of parks and places to walk. I would highly recommend it for people who work downtown, but are looking to live outside of the city.
There is not much in the way of large cultural events in the suburbs of my city, although lots of things happen downtown. There are not many small unique places to go, or eat, or do activities, but a lot of chain restaurants and things like that. Many new chain businesses have opened up relatively closely, and new housing is being built.
