I love visiting West Plains, Mo! The topography and the beauty of the town and the surrounding areas remind one of scenes from Gone with the wind. West Plains is a great Place to live and raise a family and feel safe. One of the few remaining places in the country where the spirit of America is alive and well. The natural outdoor beauty encompass with local kindness, clean and good-natured population makes West Plains top of the list of places I love to visit in the country. It's slower pace, long summers, mildly cold winters are great! But, the best time to visit is: Spring (blossoms) and Fall (Autumn foliage). In the summer, there are many rivers in the area to camp or just "tub" and relax. Mostly the sense of family, security, natural beauty, and slower pace of life makes West Plains my choice for best place to live and raise a family!

West Plains, MO is a fairly small town in southwest Missouri. The population is about 12,000 people, so it is a close-knit town. There are a few pros and cons to this little town. For example, it is a very family friendly area because everyone knows each other; therefore, it is easy to build relationships within the town. I also enjoy the fact that it is very easy to humble yourself and enjoy the nature in the area. My last point can also be a con to some individuals because it can get boring at times. There is not much to do in this little area, and the nearest social spot is about and hour and a half away. One can tend to get a bit claustrophobic in the small town which is not enjoyable. I moved here from Los Angeles, so it was a big change for me, and I hated how boring I became at first. However, I have grown tolerable to the town ever since. I would best describe this area as a good place to settle after retirement, but not good if one enjoys a bit more of a social life.
West Plains is a great place to live and raise a family. West Plains has a small town feel and friendly community. West Plains has a good school system, they also have a great college with many opportunities. There are many good local restaurants and dining establishments. They have many different shopping area's. The local rivers and lakes and parks provide a lot of outdoor entertainment.
