Excellent place to live, quite, safe, good schools, easy access to train stations, 15min commute to shopping, malls, and to surreounding townships: Florham Park, Parsippany , Whippany, Summit, Madison. About 35 min ride to Newark airport. Taxes are high but I must say I did my math and compare cost of homes in the aforementioned areas and prices are higher, therefore at the end the out of pocket expenses will be about same. So if you’d a quite, nice place to live with great location and very good schools this is the right place to live. Good luck!

West Orange is a very privileged town. Though incredibly diverse, it can be quite classist. The community always comes together in times of need and hardship, however, there can be a lot of biases depending on where you live in the town. Having gone to the high school myself, the students have A TON of resources available to them. Great education, great diversity, but a lot of progress and tolerance needs to be made.
Amazing place to live. I have lived here all my life and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. Because of some surrounding towns that aren’t as safe, WO gets a bad rep sometimes. However I feel safe in every part of this town. In addition there is a ton of wildlife and outdoor activities which is something rare in Essex County. The turtle back zoo is great to have in your backyard and both uptown and downtown have some great restaurants and bars. The public schools are great as well...no need to send your kids to private school, you’re paying high taxes, most of which go to the schools so you might as well utilize them
