West Monroe has come a long way in the past 20-25 years. Children have grown up and gone off to college and are now resettling back in the area and buying new houses. Two lane roads are full so widening projects need to continue.
There is much less paper mill smell and water has improved and needs to improve more. Large number of churches is wonderful, children need to grow up in church. Police appear to be hard working and fair. Only be concerned if one disobeys the laws. The Mayor has done a good job on development. 😊

West Monroe is a great community! It is inside Ouachita Parish, which contains many excelling schools with great teachers. The community atmosphere is fairly conservative in both politics and religion. I do wish that I felt safer in this town, as the city of Monroe, which is just across the bridge, has a very high crime rate.
West Monroe is an average town, it populous consists primarily of undereducated blue-collar workers. High School is often the glory days of many of the residents who choose to reside here after their 20s. People literally go tailgating at the local high school's football games lol. West Monroe is good for someone who wants to live in a bigger town than one with a Piggly Wiggly but smaller than one with a Whole Foods. Hunting is the primary sport here and the majority of the citizens care more about their guns than their legs. But it could always be worse.
