Lancaster is a rural and charming area that is full of potential. It's many historical attributes such as Central Market, The Wheatfield Manor (former house of former president James Buchanon), The Fulton Opera House, and proximity to places like Gettysburg and Lititz all contribute to the overall charm and interest of this part of the state. Lancaster city also offers one of the lowest rates for cost of living in the country, which is fairly impressive. Some current issues include things like government issues with budgeting and legislation, and educational cuts. Overall, I liked Lancaster but desire a faster pace of living that Lancaster cannot provide me with.

This area is perfect for raising a family. There are a lot of kid-friendly places to live and things to do, also providing entertainment for the parents. Being a college student, I am used to being up late and with my extensive work hours, most of my free time is late at night. That being said, when I am home over breaks there is not much for me to do. I do not think this is a great area for those 18 to under 21, but above 21 would be excellent to live in.
The area of Lancaster County we live in is currently in a bit of a revival. The town of Columbia has been in decline for many years, and is trying to attract some new trendy businesses, but is still very run down. There are many vacant buildings but are still a few gems, Like Burning Bridge Antiques and Bully's.

Root's Farmer's Market is 15 minutes away and offers great fresh meats and produce on Tuesdays.

There are a few chain grocery stores in the area and some great family owned markets.
