My family has lived in West Columbia for twenty-three years. It has been a good experience for us. It is convenient to get to various towns in the Columbia area. Lexington and Irmo, SC are approximately 15-20 minutes away. Downtown Columbia is approximately 10 minutes away. It is nice to be close to the city, but not have to deal with all the traffic. It is pretty quiet at night. There are a lot of families in the area. There has been some robberies, but it is not too often. Overall, it is a low key place. I have enjoyed the proximity of Midlands Technical College being a five minute drive for me. There are some beautiful neighborhoods in the area, overall, I'd say it is an average place to live.

Living in West Columbia is the best. I was born here and having been living here my whole life and I am 18 now. The education I have received from elementary to high school has been excellent and exceptional and if I ever needed tutoring or help with work I usually received it. One of my other favorite things is the accessibility of restaurants. I love that I am near my two favorite restaurants, Chick-fil-a and Texas Roadhouse. Lastly, I truly love living in West Columbia because of how close I am to all my family members and all the friends I have made. West Columbia is truly the place everyone needs to live.
West Columbia is a very dated area. Many businesses come and go in shopping centers and residents of this area are generally of low income. Despite poor area conditions, I like the proximity to Lexington, where many businesses flourish and the area is much nicer. West Columbia is comfortably close to both downtown Columbia as well as other lively destinations, such as Lake Murray. I would love to see reconstruction in the West Columbia area to make the atmosphere more lively. West Columbia could become more economically stable in the event new and booming businesses swoop in and spice things up.
